Legs Talk: Shannon Nadj
What is your leg care routine?
My leg care routine, my workout leg care routine is definitely that I like to lengthen my legs, but I also like to have that juicy booty, so I mix it up. I do the pilates mat workout, the sidekick series, and then for a little added extra muscle and tone, I do a kettlebell workout maybe twice a week. And now that we've added the reformer, there's nothing better than the resistance on those springs, so the leg spring series on the reformer really stretches your legs out, creating that little tone.
Any skincare in the bathroom?
Yes, I love that. I truly believe in lymphatic drainage for legs. You know I definitely do my own lymphatic learning from the best in LA too. So I love dry brushing before my shower, a nice healthy body scrub, and then you know just getting the little lymph nodes, so massaging, tapping them and just flushing it out, and then a nice, yummy, delicious butter oil to moisturise.
From the feet up?
Always from the feet up. Using those nice strokes, all those strokes are very important.
Why do you feel people are turning to hot pilates?
During COVID we were offering free movement on IG lives to keep people healthy and moving and I think during that time people were very confused, they were depressed, they weren't moving their bodies, so a lot of women and men migrated to what makes them feel good. So a lot of people changed their career paths to do something that they love to do, and I love that I've inspired so many global individuals to follow their dreams, make their day-to-day a healthier lifestyle.
What are the added benefits of hot pilates?
Well the heated and infrared heat is like detoxification, lengthening your muscles, quicker recovery, and it just feels so yummy in the heat.
Do you have something like a go to habit that you do on a daily basis, apart from the exercise, and the other workouts that makes you feel good?
Yeah I think for me what's important is routine. So having a really peaceful morning to start my day. I have a 2 year old son now, and honestly, spending time with him is my sunshine. We're so lucky we're in LA being outdoors, getting that natural vitamin D. I think staying around healthy environments and people is definitely my day-to-day. I love to read and cooking is also apart of my relaxation.
Reformer or mat for you?
That's so hard because we just opened reformer, however, I like both. I like the benefits of both. I love the heated mat as I like to sweat. I like to feel like I have that cardio workout and you can flow better on the mat. Reformer you have to get up, move your springs and it can be choppier, and you definitely get a good sweat on the reformer. You get the resistance of the whole springs and you get a whole full body experience that's a little more intense with the weight training because reformer really is at strength training. But I do love a cardio sweat, so I like mixing them both, so honestly, it's got to be equal.
Body brushing or cupping?
I like both. I actually bought my own cupping set. I mostly do the face, and I have to start doing the legs, but I do travel with my cupping set. But brushing is a lot easier, no excuse.
Finally, have you got a leg icon?
I'd have to say Serena Williams would be a leg icon. She's strong, she's feminine, but with the muscle, and she's got a great backside. But I also appreciate Hailey Bieber, like the model long, beautiful legs. So I'm into the strength and the athletes right now. I think that the women that are strong are so beautiful
