LEGS TALK: LIV BENTLEY
Best known for being on reality TV show Made In Chelsea, Liv Bentley has now embarked on a new chapter with her brand JOMO London that she founded alongside celebrity makeup artist Bella Campbell. The acronym for JOMO being Joy Of Missing Out, a nod to the importance of taking a break to enjoy personal self-care. By openly discussing our more intimate health issues she hopes to take the shame and embarrassment out of it and inspire more people to openly discuss their wants and needs.
Kate: What’s the biggest lesson you've learned about being in the public eye?
Liv: Be careful who you trust. I think people sell you the dream and under deliver. I also think you can be careful 'cause not everyone has your best interests at heart. Especially the people closest to you.
Kate: Your brand, JOMO stands for the joy of missing out.
Liv: Joy of missing out and jealous of my orgasm. We started it during lockdown. I started it with a friend of mine [celebrity makeup artist Bella Campbell]. Her and I have a very close friendship where we can openly discuss our sex lives. We realized that actually not many people do have that. And I sort of turned to her and said, is it weird that I'm fake orgasming?
She was like, well, you're 25, do you want to go the rest of your life faking it? And then that's how we got onto lube and found the right ingredients to make you… orgasm.
Kate: What are you joyfully missing out on right now?
Liv: I am loving being single. I'm 30. I know everyone goes through that way of going, oh, you should be married with kids. Last thing in my mind, and I love working. I'm kind of in my selfish era.
Kate: That takes us neatly onto success. What does it look like to you?
Liv: Happiness. I could say money, which obviously would be great, but actually, no. I think just happiness. I spent a few years doing certain things I really didn't enjoy and realise what a waste of time it is. And as much as you can make money doing something, it doesn't necessarily always bring you, what you really want. So yeah, just happiness and being content.
Kate: Let's go on to beauty. The worst beauty trend you've ever tried?
Liv: Probably the foundation on the lips was a big one. That with a pair of Ugg boots. Jack Wills hoodie. Do you remember those?
Kate: Oh yes, I do. That whole vibe.
Liv: Over plucking eyebrows. Isn't it weird we went from skinny eyebrows to thick eyebrows?
Kate: Yes. And that happens every other decade.
Liv: The worst thing I did was filler under my eyes, which I then all had removed. There was a phase when everyone was doing this tear drop filler. I realized it sort of melted down my face. So, yeah. Not good.
Kate: Leg day. Love it? Or leave it?
Liv: Leave it. I walk. That's my sort of leg day.
Kate: What's your ultimate pre-holiday prep? Start to finish?
Liv: Endermologie I really like. I get terribly swollen cankles when I fly. So, I like a bit of Endermologie. Sometimes, reflexology.
Obviously, I love your Legology oil. I've been putting in the bath. And I massage my ankles with it. Very good. Phenomenal. If anyone's thinking of doing it.
Kate: If you are going long haul. I don’t know if you wear flight tights or flight socks.
Liv: No, but I had to have considered it recently.
Kate: Put Air-Lite on. Put the flight socks on over the top, you'll be fine. Then, when you get where you're going, put the Air-Lite back on again.
Liv: My little hooves are so big I can barely get 'em back in my trainers after the flight.
Kate: I know the feeling. That was one of the catalysts to developing Legology, you know? I got off a long haul flight and I looked around me and everybody was like that. Even the men.
Liv: Really?
Kate: And I thought, this is not right. There's nothing to help here.
Liv: That's such a good idea.
Kate: Last one, who's your leg icon?
Liv: Okay. I don’t know what her legs look like now but I would say Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.
Kate: Oh yeah.
Liv: Just think she's phenomenal. She's got great legs.
Kate: Thank you, Liv.
Liv: Thank you.
